Aaahh Ref!

Sometimes supporting a club function is done out of a sense of duty and reluctantly at that. However there should be no problem getting people to Clonakilty Rugby Club's next fundraiser. On Friday 21st September, in The Quality Hotel, a night of fun and excitement is a given, with the possibility of even learning something useful thrown in. The evening will commence with a few drinks at 7.00pm to loosen the tongues. Then at 7.30 International Referee, Dave McHugh will discuss the new and experimental laws with hints on what to look out for. He will take us through the top ten common mistakes armchair refs make - I can think of a number of people already that NEED to attend! The top ten world cup refs and what they're good at - and maybe a bit on where they'll struggle will make us impressive pub pundits when the opportunity arises. The top ten law breakers - what they do and why they get away with it will be exposed - and hopefully this will not be taken as a coaching session in the black arts! Q&A will be an interesting wrap up to this part. I'm sure Dave McHugh needs no introduction. His rugby officiating has taken him all over the world including Argentina, Japan, Dubai, Australia, New Zealand, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Canada and the U.S.A. His CV is truly remarkable. Three World Cups, 29 Internationals, Two European Cup Finals and a 2005 Lions Specialist Advisor makes Dave Munster's highest profile referee. It will be a privilege to attend. A buffet dinner will follow before we settle down to the crucial France v Ireland world cup game. This could be a classic! Incredibly the cost for all this is a mere €25 per person and the profits will go to help run the rugby teams this season. Have a great night out and support your club in the process. The bad news is obviously numbers will have to be limited and tickets MUST be purchased in advance. Make sure of yours now. For outlets call Roy 086 60 111 11
